background:

My Design journey began over 30 years ago.

I trained in Fine Art, Painting, which led to involvement in Community Arts management. Here I developed a working knowledge of computers, which piqued an interest in their creative application. I taught myself 3D modelling, animation and coding skills and took a role at The University of Plymouth as a digital communications designer.

As the digital industry grew in scale and complexity, I identified the importance of creating cross-disciplinary design methodologies and a growing need for user research as an integral part of the design business offering. I was invited to establish the User Experience Design department at Cap Gemini in London. Here I oversaw the creative pitches, people, processes and practices involved in large-scale web & CRM solutions for businesses such as BT, The Post Office, Santander, HSBC, British Steel, Playstation et al.

In 2003 I became a Mum, I move into part-time roles. I initially worked as a production manager for agencies who designed large-scale interactive museum installations such as London’s Science Museum and International Design Expos.

On relocating to Glasgow I took on roles in the third sector, working with charities and organisations with social aims such as the Govanhill Baths Trust and Zero Waste Scotland.

The skills requested are visual communication and design engagement as organisations increasingly seek to co-create solutions within the community groups they serve. I have taught collaborative based projects since 2015 at Glasgow School of Art.
