Bates Association for Vision Education

Bates is an Association of practitioners who teach the Bates Method of Natural Eye Improvement techniques. 

Design brief:

To create a logo & marketing materials, but more so gain a real understanding of the objectives of the group.

We worked together for over one year to get the visuals for the Brand just right. During which time I was introduced to various Bates exercises for eye improvement so that I could have an embodied understanding of techniques, philosophy and methods.

The historical founder Bates is an important figure, however the group were keen to impress the progressive qualities of the organisation and methods used. Eye improvement is a slow process and much akin to a spiritual journey or awakening. The logo takes inspiration from this using, the metaphor of a path with a vivid end point.
